If you want something different Panch, and you're after COCKTAILS, go to Nightjar. It's near Old Street station, you'd barely know it's there, it is a bit cool for school, but you will thank me later. You definitely have to book, I'm going tonight actually.
Crown & Shuttle is a good pub, as is Water Poet, but not really cocktail gaffs.

Somalis, north Africans (Algerians, etc) and now it's filling up with Brazilians, who I find the most smily, vacuous, tedious people in the world, but my friend loves to strike up conversations with them. Last time I spent hours under the cow-eyed gaze of some Brazilian chump while she befriended his sister.
